So When Will The
Next Liberal leader be duly chosen?

And who will be making that choice so that Dion may step down?

1. Surely you jest.
Ignatieff is the new Liberal leader.

2. No
I do not jest!

I did not ask who.

Since no one responded I went to the Liberal site. And guess what. It says that since Dion had resigned, the executive would make the selection. Seems a bit different than what Dion said.
He very easily could have appointed an interim leader.

Liberal Party Announces Consultative Process to Appoint an Interim Leader
OTTAWA – Liberal Party President Doug Ferguson announced Monday that the Liberal Party’s National Executive has approved a consultative process by which it will appoint an interim Liberal Leader. This announcement follows the resignation of the Hon. Stéphane Dion announced earlier this week.

Something doesn't add up.

3. That's outdated then.
Bob Rae pulled out this morning. So Iggy is leader by default. Or acclamation. Or whatever you want to call it.

So any consulting, selecting, appointing etc are now moot.

4. I Didn't Vote
For him. Nor did I or anyone else send a representative to vote for him.

Dion apparently said he would resign after a leader had been duly selected/chosen.

From what you say Iggy will become leader in May and then Dion will step down.

Maybe you should have the Liberal party update its website. And perhaps the rules.

5. Liberals have delegated conventions.
But since there is only one person in the 'race', they'll simply affirm him in position, and move on to policy.

S'over.

6. So
Who is the they'll.

You seem to have a very blind eye on what is happening.

Be careful of what you wish for.

According to the first person who dropped out, the new policy has already been set.

I have no idea what the problem is here, but you asked what the news situation was and I told you.

How this relates to Bush and Sweden, only you know.

17. Suggestion.
Read my answer.

Unless something else wild comes out of the blue, Ignatieff is now the leader of the Liberal party, and the leader of the official opposition.

19. So
Therefore we can also presume that Iggy is also the party executive.

Thank You for the information.

May he have better success in obtaining funds!

you want to.

It just mystifies other people. Being out of whole cloth and all.

22. Thank You
For the right to have my own thoughts.

And being out of whole cloth mystifies me.

Don't presume that the Liberals will become the next rulers.

If the Liberals want to become a force again they will have to undergo a revitalization. Shouting down with Harper is the same thing that Martin did and the other parties are doing.

At the moment the best thing that I would hope for is the left of the Liberals and the NDP would join to become a new party.

23. I have no idea what you're
talking about.

You asked for the latest, I told you

And ever since, you've apparently blamed me for Bob Rae stepping down, and Iggy becoming leader.

I am neither Liberal nor NDP.

But if you are any example of the NDP party, it's no wonder the Liberals have never wanted anything to do with you.

Sheesh, wadda grouch!

24. Have
A sleep and then go back and re-read my opening piece. I am well aware that Iggy has been anointed. Dion could have made an anointment.

Re-read my opening piece.

I didn't blame anyone for people withdrawing.

You are presumptuous in your assumptions.

You ramble from one red herring to another.

7. Ignatieff has a bad reputation in his own riding
And how do I know that? My home village (Long Branch) is in Etobicoke-Lakeshore.

He was parachuted into the riding over the objections of the local Liberal Riding Association.

Seems like anti-democratic practices are the norm with Iggy.

Even my wife, once a hardcore Liberal campaign worker is washing her hands of the whole Liberal deal.

so I'd guess the majority in the riding likes him.

13. They tend to vote for whoever is offered.
It's traditionally a Liberal riding. Most don't know about the Riding Assoc's battles.

I was always on the NDP's side.

for the riding. That's unlikely to change now he is the leader of the opposition and likely the next PM.

But I don't have to like it.

Ignatieff was nowhere to be found in Etobicoke-Lakeshore before two years ago.

He's not a local boy.

And thank gawd for that!

You have an educated, sophisticated, well-travelled, famous man who's likely to become PM, in your riding.

Enjoy it.

26. Riding President
My riding president was on CBC yesterday morning, and said he'd consult the membership. Within a half-hour he'd sent us all an email asking for our selection. Even though Rae had resigned by the time everyone had got back to him, Ignatieff was the overwhelming choice. Iggy for the Interim, and if he does ok by the time of the convention we'll then have a formal vote on it. If he doesn't do ok, the race'll be on again. He needs to stabilize things quickly.

27. There was a leadership race in 2006
Ignatieff and Rae were the front runners, so we can't really say we don't know their positions or general characters. It is unfortunate that this Leadership Race II was short circuited, but Harper couldn't be trusted not to take advantage of it. An honorable party leader wouldn't use the opposition party's leadership race to his advantage, but we are talking here about Harper.
