Leaked memo reveals Alberta rift with OttawaAn internal memo prepared for Alberta Tory MLAs reveals a growing schism between the federal and provincial Conservatives on a host of important files, including the oilsands, climate change negotiations and employment insurance.
The talking points, prepared by the provincial Conservative government's caucus office, argues that federal Liberal Leader Michael Ignatieff is doing more to champion the lucrative oilsands than Prime Minister Stephen Harper.
The 11-page memo, obtained by the Herald, also suggests communications have deteriorated between the Harper and Stelmach governments on critical North American climate change negotiations, and blasts Ottawa for announcing its green plans through the media before notifying the Alberta government.

Premier Ed Stelmach's officials said Monday they have more information about the Obama administration's energy and climate change plans than those coming from Ottawa. They are urging the Harper government to communicate their strategies to Alberta, home to the country's energy industry and Canada's largest source of industrial greenhouse gas emissions.
