Tories spend 5 times more on economy ads than H1N1 ads
OTTAWA -- The Conservative government is spending more than five times as many taxpayer dollars on promoting its economic plan as it is on raising public awareness about the flu pandemic.

And that's once again raising a long-standing question: when does government advertising cross the line into partisan boosterism?

Television viewers may have noticed the latest feel-good government ads about stimulus spending, including the Conservative-friendly, anti-election pitch: "We can't stop now," and "We have to stay on track."

snip

"Guys, you're spending all this money to promote yourselves. Maybe some work on the prevention of H1N1 would be helpful," Liberal critic Martha Hall-Findlay said in an interview.

I have seen the ads mentioned in the article and it is VERY obvious they are election ads posing as government information ads. That being said, the Liberals did the same kind of thing when they were in power but not as blatant as the "We can't stop now" and "We have to stay on track" ads have been, imo.

1. I have a feeling this is going to hurt the Tories...
Normally pro-Conservative comments get way more approvals than disapprovals at CTV whereas in this article the opposite is true.

4. You make a good point. The comments are usually overwhelmingly supportive...
of the Harper cabal, not so much with this article. I don't think this, by itself, will do much but as part of an accumulated pile of crap they are doing it may have some resonance.

2. Must Be False
It isn't listed as Today's National News and Information. It is after all Sept 20, 2009.
Just those incompetent civil servants I suppose. I am sure that the NEW Canadian Government will see to it that this information is dully posted at their site.

Have a look yourself. Before it disappears.

3. LOL! I guess there are no articles telling us how wonderful Stevie and his...
cabal are ergo no news.

I also detest how they have the government site set up. Trying to find info is like working through an intricate maze. One thing the Libs had was a user-friendly site when they were government, it was quite easy to find information.
