Canada ruling Conservatives ahead of rivals-polls
***OTTAWA, Oct 26 (Reuters) - Canada's governing Conservatives are well ahead of their main rivals and would most likely win a majority government if an election were held now, according to a poll released on Monday.

The Ipsos-Reid survey for Canwest News Service put the Conservatives at 40 percent in popular support, with the Liberals, the top opposition party, trailing far behind at 25 percent.

***

The poll was taken last week as the Liberals repeatedly attacked the Conservatives on the grounds that they have been using an economic stimulus program for partisan purposes.

The Ipsos Reid survey of 1,003 adults was conducted from Oct 22 to 24 and is considered to be accurate to within 3.1 percentage points, 19 times out of 20.

A poll by Environics released later on Monday put the Conservatives at 38 percent public support, compared with 26 percent for the Liberals and 16 percent for the New Democrats.***

Ugh. I guess Canadians didn't mind the cheque issue or the fact that the Cons have been giving money disproportionately to Con ridings.

WHAT IS GOING ON HERE?

1. Goings On Here!
Yes. From Oct 14 to 20 poll to Oct 22 to 24 poll the Conservatives have increased their margin by 34% over the Liberals. So what is going on. If you were here you might look at the sources. I wouldn't get overly upset about it. Look at the source. And wait until the actual method and questions that were used come out.

Just remember. All we have to do in the next election is reduce Harpers numbers. He will then be on the way out.

The momentum that these polls seem to be giving him is not nice. To say the least.

2. I hope you're right. I find it discouraging that the Cons seem to be Teflon-coated lately.
