CP: Tories, Grits talking post-2011 role in Afghanistan
The future of the Afghan mission is quietly being shaped in the corridors and backrooms of Parliament Hill.

Here, some Conservatives and Liberals are having hushed talks about Canada's role in Afghanistan beyond next year, The Canadian Press has learned.

As MPs from all sides try to resolve a long-simmering dispute over access to uncensored Afghanistan detainee documents, parallel albeit passing discussions about the mission are underway in Ottawa.

The overtures aren't formal. People interviewed for this story stressed the talks are more like feelers going out than anything else.

2. If only the NDP hadn't voted against ending the mission in 2009

The blood of every soldier slain since 2009 is on the hands on Jack Layton and the NDP.

3. No
The blood of every soldier slain in Afghanistan is on the hands of Islamic extremists that allowed their country to become the base of operations for the attacks of 911 which killed 24 Canadians

4. Yes, because the average Muslim would know
all about that, right?

There was no reason to invade Afghanistan, ever.

Killing hundreds of thousands of people on the pretext of searching for one man is absurd.

And we've now lost 146 Canadians doing it.

5. No one said
average muslim . What i said was Islamic extremist and no one with half a brain believes hundreds of thousands have died in this conflict nor was it based on looking for one man .

Remember Obama said this was a " Just" war http://online.wsj.com/article/SB126043857319785183.html

7. Well if you don't keep up with the news
you don't have any idea of what's happened in Afghanistan.

Our original mission was to help the Americans find bin Laden. That phase was over long ago. Harper indulged in 'mission stretch' to keep the troops there all this time in order to supposedly revive our 'warrior spirit.'

If you want bloody hands, look to Harper.

6. I Wouldn't
Waste my calories on this.

It seems like perhaps everyone now, if one is of a certain political persuasion, is looking for a job with the CBC.
