Prime Minister Stephen Harper is expressing concern about an internal RCMP communication that suggest the force’s apology this year to the mother of Robert Dziekanski did not mean the force was actually sorry for specific conduct of its officers.
The comment from RCMP Deputy Commissioner Gary Bass is in an e-mail among documents released Wednesday by the RCMP in fulfilling an access-to-information request.
“We are disappointed to learn of the e-mail. The apology was very important to
family and mother in particular,” said Sara MacIntyre, a press secretary for the prime minister.
“We find the e-mail very troubling.”
