Ontario Provincial Police have charged a private security firm with breaking provincial licencing laws for its work at the G8 and G20 summits.
Contemporary Security Canada, which was awarded the summit security contracts by the Royal Canadian Mounted Police before being accredited to work in Ontario, has been charged with six offences.
The charges include offering to provide security services while not being licenced, employing an unlicenced security guard and failing to ensure guards are wearing proper uniforms.
CSC, a British Columbia-based subsidiary of a U.S. firm that did private security for the Vancouver Olympic Games, was hired by the RCMP to provide about 1,500 guards to conduct airport-style screening at the June summits in Toronto and Huntsville.
