I am about to say something I never thought I'd ever say in my life: we may have an NDP federal government!

Holy crap!

:)

NS and Manitoba both have NDP provincial governments right now.

3. We do in NS :)
And while a lot of people have become not happy with them, I think they're doing okay given what they took over.

They've done some questionable things but the past few governments did too.

8. I actually sorta like the balance here
Nova Scotia isn't predominantly one colour or another, so the margins of victory tend to be smaller both in terms of seats and in terms of actual voting results. End result, most people feel like their vote counts for something, and the MLAs are more civilized and less polarized (aside from that bullshit car thief stunt Mac tried to pull during the debates this past election).

4. Just imagine...
Stephen Harper uttering the words "Prime Minister Jack Layton" through gritted teeth, heading up a coalition he vilified. Ahhh, how sweet would that be...

Already voted at the advanced polls, and working for my local Liberal MP on election day (it's a Liberal-CPC riding, the NDP candidate isn't running a campaign).

10. I'm tellin' ya
The NDP needs to give their marketing team a huge raise. Those commercials have almost convinced my con-voting family to vote NDP. It's really been a brilliant campaign all around.

15. Fuck that, the left is their own worst enemy.
4 years of unleashed Con majority now.

Ohh, but Layton is the opposition you say? Big whoop. He still has no say, because as I said the Cons have a fucking majority! 2 seats, or 100 seats, it makes no bloody difference. Half the country will be privatized before we get another shot at unseating those basterds.

17. There was no chance of strategic voting actually working. IT never does.
The NDP voters would have voted for Liberals in Liberal/Tory marginals, but Liberal voters would NEVER have returned the favor in the equal number of NDP/Tory marginals.

16. Tough break lefty Canadians. Look on the bright side, Harper will probably
push too far too fast and cause a backlash against the tories by the next election. Hopefully the NDP or the liberals will be able to capitalize on his mistakes and pick up the pieces.
