Will Canadians watch Fox News?
Now the CRTC has given Faux News a permit to broadcast into Canada, will Canadians watch the GOP propaganda channel? I think it was great and clever that the CBC's "The Fifth Estate" program did a piece on the right-wing media in America around the same time. It should make many Canadians think about what they are about to receive from down here. Lies, distorted views and psychotic, dillusional talk show hosts. Don't worry though. It's all "fair and balanced" (snicker!)

1. IMHO The majority wont
watch, and if they do it's for entertainment, not to be enlightened. There are some conservative Canucks, who will watch it, and buy into the propaganda, but most Canucks will know it's propaganda.

2. Well, THIS Canadian won't!!!!!
Hell, I don't even watch MSNBC now, even though our satellite has it. Come to that, I don't think that I watch CNN much, either.

Now, the Daily Show, on the other hand... :toast:

3. It's true that it will be a source of comedy for us
My brother is as conservative (for a Canadian, that is) as I am liberal, and even he finds Fox hilarious and outrageous.

They won't fool anyone here.

4. I expect to be hugely entertained.
I look forward to the opportunity to be outraged by the entire whoop-jamboree.

5. It will be a novelty channel along the lines of...
others. I am waiting to see when, not if, Faux breaks the CRTC regs and is booted off, it will only be a matter of time.

I certainly don't intend to watch it even for entertainment purposes.

6. Isn't it only on digital cable in most places?
If so, not that many people have digital cable and those who do are going to have that many more alternatives to FOX to choose from.

It might catch on a bit though. There is a decent sized market for rightwing idiocy here, as is evidenced by the success of Sun Media newspapers throughout the country. (Granted, unlike FOX, the Sun is targeted at people who have enough brainpower to actually read.)

7. Here's some viewers thoughts to "Sticks and Stones" on CBC.

There were and few proFox,but most weren't.

"Great show - it's so hard for me to believe that America, who holds itself to be the supreme example of freedom and democracy, is held prisoner by its media."

8. If I was going to pay to watch an extra channel
I would rather pay my money to watch the Pride channel... even though I'm not gay. I wouldn't throw out the $3 or whatever it costs to watch a bunch of lying liars. I'm reaching an age where I have to consider my blood pressure.
