2. Greed ruins another sport

Back before WWII, The biggest winter arena sporting event was also ruined by greed. Now almost nobody knows that the sport even existed. The top athletes would earn more in a single night than the top baseball players would earn in a a whole season. The premier event was held at Madison Square Garden and was the place to be for all the celebrities. The sport was the 6-day bike race.
