I refuse to hate the Cons
Edited on Thu Aug-11-05 06:30 PM by HEyHEY
(Sovereignty-Jean) (Audio: 175)
Conservative Leader Stephen Harper says Prime Minister Martin has some explaining to do about the appointment of Michaelle (Mik-hail) Jean as governor general.
There are reports Jean and her filmmaker husband supported Quebec independence.
The Prime Minister's Office says hardline sovereigntists are trying to launch a smear campaign against Jean. (16)

I'm now CONVINCED the aim of this party is to attack anyone it sees as "enemies" of the Nation. They go after liberal areas by disregarding their opinions, they've gone after homosexuals, they've gone after separatists, now they are after Michaelle Jean. Fuck them... they are trying to polarize the nation, and I refuse to buy into it by hating them.
They are hoping for a U.S. style divided country so they can gain blind partisanship on conservatives.

2. Ridicule is far more effective
and considering their policies, not to mention the photo of Harper in the cowboy suit, it's not difficult to do. :D

6. Separatists shoot themselves in foot over Jean
No matter how you look at it, a sovereignist-led witch-hunt may yet turn out to be the best thing that could happen to governor general designate Michaëlle Jean and the prime minister who appointed her.

In Quebec, the controversy ignited by a handful of hard-line sovereignists determined to "out" Jean and her husband Jean-Daniel Lafond as two of their own seems certain to turn into a sovereignist black eye.

In the rest of Canada, the no-holds-barred, anti-Quebec backlash the group openly hoped for when it produced what it purported to be damning evidence that Jean and Lafond are committed sovereignists has failed to materialize.

With the growing prospect that the PQ will return to power over the course of the next governor general's mandate, few here doubt that their sheer presence at Rideau Hall will be a powerful federalist weapon in the event of a referendum rematch.

So Ralph and Stephen, looks like you might be helping the Liberals out in Quebec.

7. If there's any way at all
to do the absolutely wrong thing, the Cons always find it.

It's a gift with them.
