Harper chief of staff latest to leave Opposition leader's office
JIM BROWN
OTTAWA (CP) - Stephen Harper's chief of staff Phil Murphy has been given his walking papers, the latest in a series of aides to resign or be forced out of the troubled office of the Conservative party leader.
Murphy conferred with Harper on Monday morning and announced his departure following the meeting, said William Stairs, director of communications for the leader of the official Opposition. It was officially termed a resignation, but party insiders who spoke on condition of anonymity said Harper made it clear to Murphy that his time was up as right-hand man.
