Would appreciate any help or steering me in the right direction regarding some information on the SIN.
One question that I have is, what did Canada use before the SIN came into use in 1964. I am sure that we had a number before that time. Was it just called a different name before then? Or maybe we didn't have anything and I am going senile?
Appreciate any information.

(b 1925) and he remembers an Unemployment Insurance number. He started with a company in 1946 (stayed with them for the rest of his life...remember those days??!?). The company did all the application paperwork.
