Welsh Guards dismissed over drugs

Eleven soldiers in the Welsh Guards have tested positive for taking drugs, the Ministry of Defence has confirmed.

Seven of the servicemen have already been dismissed from the regiment. The case against four more is under review.

A spot check by the army's drug testing unit found five soldiers in the 1st Battalion Welsh Guards had taken Class A drugs.

The infantry regiment is based at RAF St Athan in south Wales. This year it completed a tour in southern Iraq.

1. I think people's personal lives are just that
but I also think that people armed with the latest advanced weaponry probably shouldn't be using mind-altering substances

3. do you think alohol is ok though??
I mean, it's a VERY dangerous drug. I wouldn't want anyone with a gun drinking! It's a pity that this drug war has put out so much propaganda against cannabis, yet alcohol is our most abused, most dangerous of them all. Look at the stats on alcohol, how many it kills.. cannabis kills no one.

4. i'd say alcohol is one of the worst
anything that's going to make you jumpy or overly aggressive isn't good to mix with deadly force

7. I don't think pot is good in that situation either
I'm all for legalization but when shit hits the fan you don't really want to be impaired by anything.

8. I agree!
But if someone smokes one evening, they're not impaired the next day.. whereas with alcohol, they still are impaired.
