Darling! Mrs Brown will never be as breezy as Mrs Blair

Darling! Mrs Brown will never be as breezy as Mrs Blair
By Helen Rumbelow, Political Correspondent

ALTHOUGH Tony Blair and Gordon Brown have promised the nation a smooth transition, Sarah Brown seems to have taken Cherie Blair as a study in what not to do.

Most commentators used the Labour Party conference to eke out subtle differences between the Chancellor and the Prime Minister, but few noticed quite how far Mrs Blair and her First Lady-in-waiting have grown apart. Take the chance remark made by Mrs Blair yesterday morning: both its style and substance are abhorrent to Mrs Brown. Mrs Blair was conducting her own tour of the stands around the conference hall — a role she relishes each year, mugging in a variety of novelty poses for the sake of the cameras. Pinned on her lapel was a badge stating, “I love TB”.

One photographer chanced a question: “Will you miss the life of the First Lady?”

“Darling, that is a long way in the future,” Mrs Blair replied with the breeziness of a true diva. “It is too far ahead for me to even think about.”

1. Cherie Blair is enough (or I would think) justification for wishing for
the departure of her hubby from the political scene. She is, as my Mom would say, something else.

7. I don't quite get what you've got against Cherie
Choice of hubby & New Age quackery aside, she's got a strong record on human rights and at times, is willing to be outspoken about it.

8. I personally dislike her use of her position to make money.
It's a serious breach of ethics.

9. Fair enough
The lecture-circuit & related activities has never really bothered me and I guess I'm quite defensive against the Telegraph & Murdoch-press' need to constantly put her down.

10. I agree
I suspect that she's significantly to the left of her husband - and once he's gone, she could well make a good M.P.

N.B. whether we like it or not, by that time she won't need to scrouge money as Blair will be off to the U.S. making £50k per night on the lecture circuit.

14. She's the mobster daughter of Robert Maxwell RIP and one of
the key figures in UK organised crime that recruited, masterminded and financed the 9/11 outrage.

15. Wrong
She is actually the daughter of the actor Tony Booth, whom unlike Maxwell she actually bears a physical resemblance to.

16. THAT is 100% Thatcheresque counter-intelligence.Same as "Tony
Blair" = his real name is Peter Freeman and he is the son of a Russian former hooker called Emilia Gelli.

17. Ah yes, how could I have forgotten...
...I am actually the Marquis of Blandford, and the Royal Family, Neil Warnock, JK Rowling, the Pope and a two thirds majority of Labour MP's are all actually aliens from the planet Ninibru. :eyes:

Hope you enjoy next month's re-run of the BBC documentary on the subject of Cherie/Robert Maxwell/Margaret Thatcher, first broadcast in 1984.....as much as I will.

Still receiving and enjoying the royalties from the original broadcast.

20. Have some popcorn

Let us know how much you've eaten by the time the 'documentary' actually appears. Or if you get admitted to hospital for overeating.

11. Gosh wouldn't it be great if the blairs switched bodies
I'd much rather have cherie blair as prime minister. And tony would
surely be much relieved to be just a piece of irrelevant arm candy.

cherie is a real person, somebody with weird quirks and weird friends.
I can't speak for any of y'all, but that is normal life with people i
know. People are really wacky, odd creatures, and that she makes room
for the other weirdo's in the world makes me happy. Dog bless her.

12. What's with this "First Lady" crap?
This is not the US, and Tony isn't president, much as he'd like to be. Was Mary Wilson ever referred to as "First Lady"? I suspect not.
