William Hague vs David Cameron
Who agrees that William Hague is a better debater and should be back as the leader of the Conservatives?

1. Why are we concerned about who leads the Conservatives?
Surely this is a left-of-centre message board?

4. DU is supposed to be for supporters of progressive candidates
Of course we can and do talk about the RW-ers, but mainly from the point of view of how to defeat them!

6. Well it's more of a subject...
..for those websites such as FreeBritannia who actually support the Tories really.

To be honest Hague has been leader once before and it didn't turn out all that well did it?

3. If he's a better debater, then surely he SHOULDN'T be back as leader of the Conservatives
Edited on Mon Mar-23-09 07:08 AM by LeftishBrit
from the point of view of those who don't want the Tories to win!

I don't think either of them would be a good PM. First of all, Tory economic policies (continued by New Labour) got us all into this mess. Secondly, neither is the sort of leader whose ability could conceivably transcend party affiliation. Hague was a Tory activist practically from birth - a sort of British Alex P. Keaton - and Cameron is in the dictionary under the word 'weathercock'. I admit both are better than the Bushies, but that doesn't make them good.

I'd like a decent Labour (or other non-Tory) PM, thank you.

8. Something that we should try to counter if we can, surely?
Fortunately, the elections isn't immediately. Things can change.

Once Thatcher was the most supported leader - that was a bad thing and it changed, though not soon enough.
