Psychics given £4,500 government funding to teach people to communicate with the dead
Two psychics from Wales have been awarded £4,500 of government funding to teach people how to 'communicate with the dead'.

By Nigel Bunyan
3:32PM GMT 26 Mar 2009

The couple, from Bridgend, south Wales, will use it to instruct people on how to contact friends and relatives "on the other side".

Critics are astonished that the award was approved by the Department of Work and Pensions bureaucrats, and now the Welsh Assembly has launched an investigation.

The mediums themselves confess to being "surprised" at securing the grant. But they insist that the "mere £4,500" of public money will be put to good use at their centre, the Accolade Academy of Psychic and Mediumistic Studies.

Jonathan Morgan, a Conservative member of the Assembly, said: "It is an utter disgrace that taxpayers' money is being wasted and given to an organisation that believes it can teach people how to communicate with the dead.

6. "Sanctimonious ticking off"?
No. Just a reminder that there are rules about posting on DU, whatever one's views.

I try to keep to them. I don't think it's unreasonable of me to expect other people to.

7. "Shame they can't communicate with the brain dead" is hardly
against the DU rules!

Probably one of the lamer criticisms of a top head of government that I have seen on this website.

But I guess to some people rank abuse is the best they can do in the way of criticism.

12. What about including pics of Young Dave and Little Georgie Osborne while you're at it?
Not to mention Brown's illegitimate grandmother Maggie Thatcher, who set our country on this path in the first place. Not that this excuses Labour PMs for imitating her; but this isn't a forum for supporting Tories *against* Labour.

9. I'm thinking of setting myself up
as a feng shui practitioner.

Is there any chance I'll be able to get taxpayer money?

10. Tell them you're a feng shui mortgage broker
who lends money on the basis of the orientation and layout of houses.

It can't go any worse than the last few years.

13. I agree, no need to spend taxpayers' money on learning to communicate with the dead.
The Torygraph is already very good at communicating with the extinct, without any teaching.
