Headhunting firm Hanson Search has recruited a senior board member of Thatcherite pressure group Conservative Way Forward to help the company fill public affairs jobs.
Ben Pickering, who has been active in Tory circles for more than a decade, has joined the Strand-based firm as a consultant. He will recruit for both UK and Brussels-based jobs.
Thirty-year-old Pickering is a co-founder and former director of the Young Britons’ Foundation, the centre-right training organisation that works with Tory youth wing Conservative Future to develop the skills of its top campaigners.
Hanson MD Alice Weightman said: “We have seen considerable growth in the UK PA market over the past six months, mainly driven by potential change in government. We expect this to continue over the next year.”
Rival recruitment firm Ellwood & Atfield has also bolstered its Tory links over the past year, working with well-connected former Tory election candidates Jonathan Sheppard and Lionel Zetter.
