BREAKING NEWS: Number 10 recognises that talks with the Lib Dems have not and will reach not any positive conclusion, and they are now discussing the method of declaring that their side of the negotiation is over, BBC Radio 5 Live's political correspondent Jon Pienaar says.

Labour recognise their efforts to do a deal with the Lib Dems to stay in power are over, the BBC understands.

The decision appears to clear the way for a Lib Dem and Tory deal which would see David Cameron succeeding Labour's Gordon Brown as prime minister.

informed their leaders in no uncertain terms that they preferred opposition to any deals with Cameron

14. If the event the former were to occur

the end result would more likely be the opposite unless Cameron was stupid enough to fabricate information to Parliament to cause us to join another war or by providing a complete absense of financial regulation leading to participation in another financial melt down.

So - don't hold your breath.
