Tony Blair gives book profits to injured troops centre
"Tony Blair is donating all the profits from his memoirs to a new sports centre for injured troops, it was disclosed today.

A spokesman for the former Prime Minister confirmed he will hand over the reported £4.6 million advance he received for the book, A Journey, as well as any royalties.

The money will go towards the Royal British Legion's Battle Back Challenge Centre, which is due to open in summer 2012"

1. Ah, but this is all part of the grand strategy, isn't it?
We get over the inconvenience of two unnecessary and unpopular wars by fetishing the armed forces.

The wars are bad news, you understand, but aren't our brave boys wonderful, whatever the rights or wrongs of what we send them to do.

Let's have lots of parades and bleeding stumps and pub benefits and armed forces days with weapons displays and church services and fairground rides and Punch and Judy shows for the kids. That way we can keep the punters' minds off reality and remind them what a Great and Important and Formidable Country we still are! Rule Britannia!

What's that you say? Me ... CYNICAL? Naa, never.

6. Isn't it sad when parody is so much more believable than the published news?
Maybe it's something to do with honesty & being closer to the truth ...?

5. To be fair, it is a generous donation, the royalties should be huge
I mean, it'll probably top the bestselling fiction list for months
