OMG. Is Gideon for real?

And can we do nothing about the hijacking of the word "Progressive"?

1. This has been going on for some time
E.g. see anything about the 'Institute for Social Justice' (a misleading name if ever there was one'); or this article by the revolting Tim Montgomerie - who along with Duncan-Smith was one of the founders of said Institute, and who runs the revolting Conservative Home blog:

http://www.telegraph.co.uk/comment/5008047/A-strong-family-and-small-state-ought-to-go-hand-in-hand.html

At least Thatcher was honest about considering that there is 'no such thing as society' and treating poor and 'weak' people simply as acceptable collateral damage in the cause of Making Britain Great, and Achieving Economic Success (at least for the rich). Some of this lot seem to think that taking the safety-nets away from the poor is Good For Them. Which is in many ways even more sickening.

By the way, I thought 'Gideon' was just a name that you'd come up with; but I looked him up and found that he really was called that till he decided to change it to George. Interesting little fact...

2. I think Gideon suits that smug, pi, Latter-Day-Saint missionary look of his.

A face one would never tire of punching, IMHO.

'Orrible little man.

3. Interesting. None of the biographies of Montgomerie seem to include anything ...
... about his own family.

Strange: one would have thought he'd be keen for people to know how he leads by example.

4. On that subject (keep your sick-bag handy...)
Nadine Dorries apparently once claimed that she'd had an affair with Montgomerie. (Yes, *I'd* rather not visualize that either!)

Montgomerie at any rate seems to have begun his career under the influence of entirely the wrong sort of American politics:
