Critics of public service reform plans should 'grow up', says David Cameron
"David Cameron today urged critics of his plans to introduce greater choice in public services to grow up, and realise the public are concerned by the standard of a public service rather than whether it is delivered by a charity, private company or a public sector worker."

Anybody got any two word suggestions for what David Cameron should do? I'll start the ball rolling with "sniff glue".

1. One thing he should do is grow up!
He is just a spoilt kid criticizing the adults because they have more real knowledge and experience than he does, and won't give him all his own way.

Something else he could do is shut up!

Another, of course, is p**s off - but he won't!

4. Looks like he's taking a page out of Obama's playbook -
when pushing a ridiculous, ill-advised, and unpopular plan, be sure to tell the voters that you think they're immature spoiled brats.

I liked Polly Toynbee's response to this announcement yesterday.

But silken words won't cover the facts. Politically the NHS is high visibility. Even the Tory media will soon be reporting lengthening waiting lists, cancelled operations and a cascade of hospital closures. The public may not take kindly to being told to "grow up" when they object.

6. Yes. What thisis actually is, is self-delusion masquerading as politics.
I honestly don't think Cameron, Clegg and the gang have any clear understanding of what they're doing. Which makes them more scary than Thatcher or Blair, IMHO ...

7. Have to agree - unfortunately that seems to be the
standard for politicians these days.

What's truly alarming is that there doesn't seem to be anyone in the wings that could do much better than the know-nowts currently in charge - not in the UK and certainly not in the US (frankly, your situation looks halcyon compared to ours - or maybe that's just 'grass is greener' thinking) .

8. The way I see it....
is that they don't have any understanding outside of looking at supply and demand diagrams in economics textbooks. And that in itself can lead to dogmatic ideological solutions rather then looking at things sensibly.
