Minimum Wage on the chopping block
Minimum Wage (Amendment) Bill (HC Bill 29)
Enable the national minimum wage to be varied to reflect local labour market conditions; and for connected purposes.

So who thinks that the minimum wage will be variable across the country where different regions have different costs of living, increasing in expensive areas? Or just leave it as is for London and drop it for everywhere else?

Of course, it'll enable job creation. Mainly by allowing companies to hire 3 people for the wage paid to one currently. The working time directive will be next & we'll be back to £1 per hour working 60 hours per week, exactly as it was when I first entered the job market in 1996.

1. It is a private member's bill
The Coalition Government has pledged its support for the minimum wage and Mr Chope said he knew the bill had no chance of success.

Yes, it's explicit that it wants the minimum wage cut in some areas; but that's because Chope is a wanker. I don't think 'on the chopping block' is accurate.
