Royal wedding prompts surge in foreign holiday bookings

I personally won't be putting up bunting, partly because I'm a hardcore republican (maybe a dangerous thing to write around here) but also because I live in Hamburg and I'm still trying to get over the shame of that 4-1 in Bloemfontein. Anyone else here going crazy for the royal wedding?

But I see no reason at all for a public holiday, particularly when it clashes with both Easter and May Day...nearly half of the year's bank holidays crammed into a small space of time.

4. Makes sense to me.

As a monarchist, even I am not going to be in the area are marking the royal wedding, as I'm going to a stag do. I can competely understand the motives of many people who are probably booking off the 3 days in between the bank holidays to get a tidy few days off. I don't think it's much to do with whether you're monarchist or republican.
