Amy Winehouse found dead, aged 27
http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-14262237

Singer Amy Winehouse, 27, has been found dead at her home, the Press Association has reported.

The troubled singer had a long battle with drink and drugs which overshadowed her musical career in recent years.

A Metropolitan Police spokesman confirmed that a 27-year-old woman had died in Camden and that the cause of death was as yet unexplained.

London Ambulance Service had been called to the flat at 1554 BST and sent two ambulances but the woman died, it said.

1. Big shame.
And another member of the 27 Club.

Best to remember her for the voice.

2. Tremendous shame
Closest voice I ever heard to Billie Holidays - was the way she sung behind the music same as Billie did.

Odd that none of cousins over there have picked up on "cause of death was as yet unexplained" this time.

3. I presume it means "we don't know if it was an overdose, of which drug, or the cumulative effects"
of everything she'd done (including alcohol). For once, no-one suspects a conspiracy instead. I suppose she wasn't political in any way, so they don't leap to the conclusion.

4. I think they have now reached a conclusion
which seems to be related to what the forensic crowd found in her house. Being mentioned on tv news as I write. I wouldn't even hazard a guess - not fair to do so. Its her dad I feel sorry for - she was only 2/3rs the age of my own daughter.

That's a nice quiet square. I didn't know she lived at No. 30. The Irish Centre is 50-52 and I'm down there odd Saturday nights for Hellzapoppin'. Parking is chaos there tonight due to high police presence - normally its fine.
