I'm sorry if I've made inappropriate comments
In the threads about the shooting down of the Brazilian. I guess I just don't like Blair much. I like the UK, though. And I appreciate that this place has British citizens :-)

Peace to you, folks.

1. We aren't fans of his either
I still like some aspects of the Labour Party, but the party has been hijacked by a neoliberal ideological élite of sorts. It's still not as bad here as in some other countries, and on economic issues and labour rights the main parties here are to the left of the U.S. Democrats. The government is bringing in civil unions for gays and lesbians which is good. Although we still need to battle the government's more authoritarian tendencies when it comes to civil liberties and such.

Blair isn't standing again and that will be a relief to us all.

Peace to you too.

3. I don't think he could get away with it if he tried to run again
Although Labour gambled on keeping him this year, the risk for 2009 would be huge.

4. Why not?
He got away with lying about WMD and so on and so on. Probably thinks god will let him get away with anything.

9. If he thinks that, I'm sure they'll be a coup d'etat
by Brown or some other Labourite waiting in the wings.

7. Thank you
I used to like the Labour party in the UK, and I used to like Blair too ;-) I just don't know what the feck is going on anymore

Labour has a lot of interesting people still, but there seems to be a division between the folks with bright and shining visions and the good old workers.
I hust hope that common sense wins out.

5. Blair my not be standing, but!
His ideals may live on in the Labour party for a generation ,
Brown lacks charisma and the personality of Blair .
But he also shares many of Blair`s ideals .
I wonder if this will be actually worse for our country?

6. Not really a fan of Brown, but..
I think he'd be better than Blair. Not as flakey. Probably wouldn't have dragged us into war in Iraq, but who knows?

I think that Blair as an individual is as bad or worse than Major, though his government as a whole is of course better, due to the other people in it. He is much better than Thatcher, but then so is anyone (well, perhaps not Bush).

8. Just to point out
If anyone ever wants a debate about Major, I have two words: Carlyle Group :eyes:
