Round my way people were always quite keen on Fox-hunting, but I'm not sure what the huntsmen will do now it's been banned.

I'm not opposed to hunting non-endangered species at all if that's your bag, but I've never been interested in doing that sort of thing myself.

If so I don't think I particularly have a problem with it. I never had an opinion on fox-hunting until I encountered the local hunt one day. Met every single stereotype.

I don't know if it still happens, but they used to lay on special trains so that folk down in London could eat grouse as early as possible.

Personally, on ethical grounds I'd much rather eat game than factory-farmed meat.

3. Well.....a few things.......

1 - There aren't really any grouse to shoot at...

2 - If there were, you wouldn't need a firearms certificate to do it - you'd be using a shotgun, so you'd need a shotgun certificate.

Sorry - too much time in the Gungeon has led me to be a bit pedantic when it comes to guns and shooting in the UK!

For what it's worth, I went clay shooting in Shropshire a couple of weekends ago...LOADS of fun!

4. It's ages since I played in the Gungeon,

normally I stick to here & the sandbox. I might have a go this afternoon & pick some flame wars.

No great loss if the grouse moors are shot, might encourage the landowners to diversify into things that provide genuine employment, rather than 2 or 3 people over a few hundred acre estate.

I remember hearing a stat about 10 years ago on bbc tv program, I'm not sure if it's true now: In Brazil 90% of the land is owned by 1% of the population, in Scotland 90% of the land is owned, 0.01% of the population. It's one of the things my Dad, a crusty, old Tory & me agree on is Scotland needs land reform, though it is begining to get it.

7. My grouse is with the goddam pheasants that wreak havoc in my

herb garden and the ones that decimate next spring's bulb planting.

So I'm feeling like taking a few pot shots at the damned critters with my youngest's air rifle.....

Use to have a very bloodthirsty cat - a Maine Coon called Attila - that used to sit in the herbaceous border and wait until some feathered fiend started its gorging on my seedlings and would then pounce.....Mainly ducks from the neighbor's pond and the occasional larger game bird.

Now training up a junior mog to emulate the benchmark set up by fearless forerunner.
