Poll question: What are you?

I mean in terms of nationality - which do you feel primarily?

For the record, I feel primarily English - but I do support the U.K. (as long as the Scots and Welsh want to stay in it), and do feel partially British.

I've totally avoided the question of Northern Ireland - it only ever seems to raise grief.

1. I say British because

I've got a bit of everything, including Irish, in me.

I was born in England, to Welsh parents, whose ancestors included a lot of Irish and Scots.

There's some French as well, I believe.

I was born in Scotland to one English and one Scottish parent, and my life's been split between England and Scotland. Although I do consider myself Scottish, I feel primarily British.

mom is Italian ,Dad is french Canadian and I was born in Canada.

5. English, primarily

I know we're all British, and I'm glad it's that way, but I still feel English more than anything else. But I do think that the sooner we all feel European, the better.

6. Irish

On both sides except for one English grandfather. the others from Counties Cork and Mayo. Am eligible for and applying for Irish citizenship, which I understand is valid in most European countries.

English, mainly, with a bit of German thrown in.

Ethnically I'm predominantly Irish but both my parents and myself were born in England, so I support English cricket, soccer and rugby teams. I do identify as British more than English, but I like to define myself more as a European.

I've never been too keen on the whole "English" thing. For one thing the Union Jack is a much nicer looking flag then the cross of St George, and it means a lot more too IMHO.

Even though I wasn't born there, and only lived there for 3 years my whole family is from there (traced back a couple of hundred years on my mothers side) and I definitely identify with it.

Interestingly I always felt British until I went to university in Scotland. It's not that I don't like Scotland or the Scots (both are marvellous), it just made me aware of a perception that it wasn't quite the same as England.
