Peer admits starting fire at hotel
1 September 2005

Labour peer Mike Watson has admitted deliberately starting a fire at a hotel following an awards dinner last year.

Lord Watson, 56, pleaded guilty to a charge of wilful fire-raising when he appeared at Edinburgh Sheriff Court.

He admitted setting fire to a curtain at the plush Prestonfield House Hotel in Edinburgh and putting lives in danger.

The Glasgow Cathcart MSP now intends to resign from the Scottish Parliament.

2. Interesting, and I wonder how many Repug politicians
would resign following what they'd probably describe as "just a Frat-Boy prank"?
