I never imagined wanting to leave the US.

3. You can go there if you wish. There is no restriction on going to Germany

I would find it very interesting to see where my mother grew up if that were my situation. Got any pics of her when she was still there?

4. Call the German Embassy in Washington to see what your

legal rights and status are. If your mother did not naturalize and was a German citizen when she died, you might have a quasi-right of residency in Germany. Which may not be a bad move considering how things are going here with the exception of the 12% unemployment there.

Under what terms she , if she did it at all, gave up her German citizenship. Ask at the nearest consulate and/or the Germany Embassy. :hi:
