What are Angela Merkel's positions on abortion and gay rights?
It looks like a win by Germany's CDU/CSU is inevitable in September.

I was reading about CDU's Angela Merkel at BBC and it said that was was "centrist" on abortion and gay rights. Does anyone know exactly what her positions are?

Pretending to be Centrist and the CSU are totally against abortion and gay rights. The German's will rue the day they pick them.

I fear Merkel's going to win and when she does Europe's in trouble, because ALONG with Blair...well, here's a picture that speaks far better than I could put into words:

Her cabinet picks seem to indicate a very RW position on this; her most prominent pick, Kirchhof, is of the "women should have a career as mother" school of thought.

Also, she has said several times that she plans to undo the civil union/gay marriage legislation.

She probably won't touch the existing (heavily regulated) choice legislation.
