Howard wants to give Indonesia $200 million to help with
deforestation but he refuses to outlaw any illegal imports of timber from Indonesia. Is yesterday's man losing it?

1. I only vaguely heard what he had to say on this issue this
morning.
I think that the problem with banning illegally sourced
timber is tracking it back to it's source. The paperwork
would be extremely likely to be generated corruptly.
I think Howard is using any excuse curry favour with Bam Bam.

2. And who is going to check on where the money goes?
Not much into reforestation and plenty into private bank accounts, I don't doubt.

3. That's right, endemic corruption, Indonesian style. That's why
we need to see the details. I am not holding my breath.
