Truth at last.
"Defence Minister Brendan Nelson says securing the world's oil supply is one of the Federal Government's considerations as it decides how long to keep troops in Iraq."

(snip)

"Mr Rudd says the statement is a clear backflip on what the Howard Government said when the Iraq war started.

"Mr Howard makes it up as he goes along on Iraq," he said.

"Mr Howard was asked back in 2003 whether this war had anything to do with oil. Mr Howard said in no way did this have anything to do with oil. This government simply makes it up as it goes along."

All together now - we told you so.

1. *repeats comment from Latest News thread*
Question I want asked in the next Question Time: "Mr. Speaker, why are the Australian People being forced to pay twice for petrol? Not only are Australians paying outragous and ever-increasing prices for petrol, but the Australian People's taxes are being used to give the oil companies a larger supply of oil, and prices are still increasing! Why is the Prime Minister forcing Australians to pay for their petrol twice?"

2. Surprising news...NOT
The term 'No shit Sherlock' came to mind when the news gasped with this amazing revelation. Are they really that stupid?

Securing the oil was one, the other which has yet to be mentioned officially is that Johnny was (and still is) tongue washing Bush's shoes, despite the fact every other nation (even the UK) is backing away as fast as they can.

The problem is that when Bush leaves (either by votes or term limit) Aust is screwed.

He has been so busy fellating Bush and Cheney that he hasn't been giving the Democrats any loving, and hence they will screw us over. And if the Republicans gain power, they will not touch anything Bush with a 20foot cattle prod - including boot licking toadies and thus we are screwed again. And our entire international reputation is that of a US toady so we wont get any favours elsewhere

3. You're so right!
It all goes to show that while Howard is rat-cunning, he is essentially a stupid man, with tunnel
vision. Pragmatism alone should have prompted him to take a middle line with the U.S.

But let's keep hopeful that the PM who will deal with a Democratic President will be Kevin Rudd.

4. I think Brendan must be on his last chance by now.
The back room boys in the coalition must be thinking that he
is likely to make more gaffes as time goes by.
I don't think Nelson has recovered from the Covco thing yet.
Ministerial shakeup anyone?

5. He's always been Howard's Step'n'Fetchit.
Can't speak without a cue card and always looks terrified that he'll forget what he's been told to
say. Trying to backtrack now, but the damage has been done.

Used to be Labor, but thought he'd go with the power. I'm sure he thought he'd be PM one day. Silly
man.
