Howard to call election tomorrow?
Howard is heading back to Canberra tomorrow (Sunday), and it's being
tipped that he will ask the Governer-General to dissolve Parliament
and will call the election tomorrow.

http://www.abc.net.au/news/stories/2007/10/13/2058895.htm

The whole thing is becoming tedious, and he's looking like a coward for
not calling it sooner. His poll figures aren't getting any better, and
Labor's attacks on the Government advertising spending spree are starting
to hit home. I don't watch commercial free to air, but I do watch cable,
and every single program I watch has Government propaganda ads. I'm
heartily sick of it, and I don't think it's doing a blind bit of good for
the Government.

Will tomorrow be the beginning of the end for Howard?

1. I think he will
as there would have been hoopla about parliamentarians packing their bags and heading back to Canberra. What hasn't happened for Howard is that Labor has kept it's discipline; and Rudd is covering every move the government makes. No bounce from APEC, poll consistently bad - one on Skynews this morning showed 59 to 41, liberal leadership has not been resolved and the people/press calling Howard out everytime he announces something that should have been done years ago - ie Aboriginal reconciliation, infra structure spending, hospital buy outs etc. Finally are people seeing thru Howard's cynicism.

Let's see what core and non core promises come up this time. I can't shake that nagging feeling that the Libs will pull something out of the hat but on the eve of the campaign things are looking good.

I will be voting Greens or Independent preferancing Labor, but I live in a safe Liberal seat with failed minister Alex Somylay as my member so my vote wont really count.

Peace

4. I'm in the same position as you,
our electorate is Warringah, held by Tony Abbott.

I also vote Green, preferencing Labor, and it's frustrating in the Lower
House that it doesn't make a difference, but you can still make a
statement. And there's always the Senate, where I hope with all my
heart that the Greens will hold the balance of power.

2. Lazerus's triple by-pass kept him going for such a long time.
Too bad about the consciencectomy.
On yer bike, and the horse you rode in on.

3. It's on!
November 24th.

I don't remember such a positive feeling since 1983, when the Hawke
Government came to power.

I think he'll go, and the icing on the cake will be if he loses his own
seat.
