Yes. Some of us have to vote two weekends in a row. This is interesting cause it's the first state or territory election after the federal election. I'm a believer in the theory that whichever party holds power in the majority of states will never win when it comes to the federal election. But being Canberra, this should be a Labor victory, I hope.Jon Stanhope appears set to lead the ACT's first majority Government, according to an exclusive Canberra Times poll showing Labor storming home in tomorrow's Legislative Assembly election.
The Patterson Market Research survey of 327 voters, taken on Monday, shows unprecedented support for Chief Minister Jon Stanhope and the chance of Labor taking up to 10 of the 17 seats in the Assembly.
Labor could expect to receive 51 per cent of the primary vote across the three electorates with the Liberals trailing on 27 per cent.
After allocating the 7 per cent of undecided voters, Labor could expect 55 per cent of the vote, the Liberals 30 per cent and the Greens 11 per cent.
Pollster Keith Patterson said that a dominant primary vote for Labor in Molonglo would counter a weaker showing in Brindabella.
The figures show Labor winning 59 per cent of the primary vote in Molonglo, enough for nearly five seats in the seven- member electorate.
Overall, Mr Patterson predicted the Labor Party would win nine or 10 seats, the party's vote boosted by an anti- conservative backlash after the Coalition's resounding win in last Saturday's federal poll.
