A friend of mine in New Mexico told me something that is amusing, and from my point of view pretty much true. I imagine you Australians have heard it a million times but it was new to me...
Australia got the convicts
America got the puritans
Australia got the better deal

but then I expect that they are spread all over the world.
Xenophobia seems to be the biggest problem on the planet.
I expect the slow process of civilisation will eventually
eliminate it. Probably another 500 years.
