Our taxes are paying for that WorkChoices progaganda campaign...
Does anyone know how many millions of $$$ the govt has poured into this thing? There's the glossy booklets, the nonstop tv ads, and the helpline we can all ring to get more of the govts incredible spin...

1. Most estimates put the figure at around $20 million.
Stupid ads - all those dumb people smiling while they're being
shafted. Nobody with an IQ over 10 would believe them.

2. Those ads...
There was something last week about how the people who were smiling and waving in those ads didn't know what the ads were for and weren't actually paid. That pretty much sums up the IR changes doesn't it? A golden future of not being told anythign and not getting paid. And as long as we're happy with that we won't get the sack!

3. I heard that too.
I don't know who cast them - I'm an actors' agent, and we usually
get those briefs, but not this one.

Most actors won't do ads for the Libs at any price, and when the
jobs come in, I let them make their own decision, I would never
twist anyone's arm, no matter what the cost. Most say no.

As actors will be affected by the new I.R. laws - the Screen
Producer's Association has been trying to get rid of penalties and
overtime from the pittance actors get for years - I'm not
surprised they didn't get professionals. Any agent approached would
have wanted to see the scripts, and I'm sure very few actors would
have agreed to do them.

4. Heard yesterday on air Howard admitting to about $43 million.
He was refuting Labor charges that they'd spent over $50 million.

Nice one, John.

5. just dropping in to flog
the ACTU National Hook-up day. The libs (or at least those in marginal seats) are actually getting a bit worried about what the IR changes might mean for THEIR jobs.

The more people turn up the more we can keep some pressure going.

On Tuesday November 15, Australians will gather in capital cities and towns all over the country for the National Day of Community Protest.

A Sky Channel broadcast of the event will be beamed into hundreds of workplaces and community venues. Some of Australia’s best-loved celebrities will be there to lend support.

Hundreds of thousands of Australians will be telling the Government that our rights at work are worth fighting for. Please tell as many of your friends and co-workers as possible about the November 15 National Day of Community Protest.
