Breaking News: DFA Clinches Full Hand-Count in Washington Governor's Race

Wow! It just hit the AP wire that in Washington "a flood of online contributions put the party over the top" in its effort to raise enough money for a hand-count of all ballots in the governor's race.

You did this!

A little over 48 hours ago DFA Executive Director Tom McMahon asked the grassroots to help the Washington State Democratic Party raise enough money to pay the fee that the election authorities charge for any hand-count requests.

The response was overwhelming -- first in the reaction of the online community and now, we learn, in the actual dollars and cents that poured in to protect every vote.

Washington Democratic Party Chairman Paul Berendt gave the Democracy for America grassroots credit for mobilizing in comments published earlier today in the Seattle Post-Intelligencer and the subscription-only Hotline, published by National Journal:
