Important: Results of ABC-7 news coverage on Ohio recount

I just watched my local news on WZVN ABC-7 at 11:00 and it was awesome coverage of election problems. Here is the website
www.abc-7.com The reporter who covered the story was Patrick Taney and CNN was also mentioned. The first few sentences stated that there was a recount in Ohio and Pres. Bush may not have won the election. Cliff Arneback, Jesse Jackson, BBV, Common Dreams, Together.org, Boston Globe, New York Times, and John Kerry were all mentioned. There was video of Arneback and Jackson. They also stated the U.S. Election Commission reported problems across the country and was investigating along with 3 democratic congressman. I will list the reporters email below and the viewer comment email for ABC under it. Please email these people and thank them for their coverage.

If you go to www.abc-7.com you will see an area that says abc online video for news @ 6:00. They usually update this fairly quickly and hopefully we will be able to watch the video for the 11:00 news shortly. I will post again once link has been updated.

They've started to report on the voting issues a little bit, and they're taking it seriously. No statements about "conspiracy theories" or anything like that. Their coverage is still lacking, to be sure, but so far it's the most national coverage we've seen from the main-stream media outside of Olbermann's show.

Encourage them to keep reporting on the issue! Tell them you found their report interesting and want to know more...

Here is my post after watching the CNN report this morning:

I just watched their report- mostly about Ohio. They reported 400 marchers which seems to be way off base (especially after seeing their footage). Anyone know how many actually attended? Please clarify so we can respond en masse to their "incomplete" report.

Next, they claimed that ALL over the overvote reports in Ohio precincts have now been corrected. My understanding is that this is not true. Anyone who can confirm what is true regarding precincts reporting more votes then voters?

They also said that the Kerry campaign is not involved with the Ohio investigation (and played a clip of the Boston concession speech). . My understanding is that the Kerry campaign and attorneys are involved and are supporting the investigation. Did I miss something? I know they waffled about the amount of their involvement but the last thing I read said they were working with all parties on the recount efforts. Anyone have any other info?

Finally, they reported that "a few" members of Congress have asked the "General Accounting Office" to investigate some of the voter irregularities. First of all, it's not a few members of Congress- it's more like 8 or 10 members. Can someone clarify how many? Next, I think CNN should be reminded that their investigation demand (there were 2 actually) includes 57,000 reports of irregularities and problems. Might this not be a big enough number for CNN to report on? 100-200 ok- but 57,000? GEEEEZZZZ.

Also, the GAO is no longer called the General Accounting Office - CNN conveniently used an outdated, less important sounding title to spin this to downplay the impact of Tuesday's hearing. CNN needs to know that the General Accountability Office is a powerful, non-partisan agency that works as the congressional watchdog on behalf of the Congress and the American public. Their role is to evaluate complaints and issues that relate to federally funded programs (such as elections), audits federal expenditures, and issues legal opinions. When GAO reports its findings to Congress, it recommends actions. Please tell CNN that this is a MAJOR AGENCY and having them agree to a hearing and a major investigation is no small matter. (Perhaps we might suggest that they cover the hearing on Tuesday? Interview some of the Congress Persons involved?)

Please write to CNN and demand that they print the real story- not their version which truly does little to demonstrate the enormousnesses of this issue. !

37. Kerry NOT involved, and a few other answers --

Kerry lawyers simply supported the 3rd Party candidates in their lawsuit where one OH county didn't want to be bothered with this. (We won.) He's not involved with the recount whatsoever, and the judge in one suit (the same one?) MIGHT have forced Blackwell to speed up the certification and recount were it not for the fact that the 3rd Party candidates who are requesting the recount weren't going to be affected by who won, either way (IOW: Kerry ON the recount could've made a world of difference).

I'm really tired, but I think he'll get what I'm trying to say:

Dear Mr. Taney:

You will be receiving a lot of negative feedback for your election coverage as regards the recount and that the election results may not be as they first seemed on the night of November 2. Hopefully, positive feedback will be greater.

I want to thank you for your journalistic integrity and your courage in getting at the truth. For those who say they will stop watching you, remember that Keith Olbermann's ratings are up 128 percent since he began covering the tainted election with an eye to exposing the "irregularities." Believe me, the public is interested, if the information is given to them.

Thomas Jefferson wrote, "In a free country, every power is dangerous which is not bound up by general rules." Mr. Taney, in this election and its aftermath, there are those who have conducted themselves as if the rules do not apply to them, Mr. Blackwell being especially conspicuous. It is only the media which can alert the public en masse to those who have broken the rules.

So, if you would please let us know when it might be up -- and, well do you know if it's possible to get a transcript of the show? Always nice to read through what was actually said, as it's easy to miss. My dial-up is kinda slow and often times loading up videos takes a long time and they often get interrupted.

37K reports of irregularities they're looking into- fact checkers are reviewing it all.

Mentioned Arnebeck's lawsuit.

Treated it like a real news story- no mention of "conspiracy."

Although it dismissed the NC missing votes to a "clerical error" and didn't mention anything further about it.

We're making progress! And I just put a note on another thread that CNN/Headline News covered it this evening, mentioned outstanding pending irregularities, mentioned J. Jackson said Kerry gave up too quick, and even showed footage of Kerry waving and smiling in New Hampshire recently, and talked about his donation to Washington governer recount. For CNN, I thought it was positive...in that they made NO attempt to dismiss the Fraud allegations, and irregularities.
