Worried about backlash...

This is a real dilemma.

The biggest crime of November 2nd is also our best chance at getting the most attention - the disenfranchisement of African-American and other people of color in Ohio, Florida and elsewhere.

Plus there is more historic case-law on racism than anything else we could attack on.

It is also going to be very hard to prove to the great un-washed what the electronic voting scandal is all about. Its also hard to prove and probably easy to hide.

But - I'm very concerned about backlash against African-Americans. The panel we saw today was primarily African-American and the biggest voice so far is Jessie Jackson.

Did anyone else hear the caller on C-SPAN last week when Arnebeck was on? (you can watch it on C-SPAN site). He was so ugly - his voice shaking with rage - he said "I will not let you touch my president" or something to that effect. I thought then - "we're going to see violence from these people".

Maybe we can pass this concern onto our reps in the House and Senate too - extra incentive to get involved.

I was in tears listening to the Rally in Columbus last Saturday. Right then and there I wrote to Kerry and Biden on this very matter - saying that we as Americans CAN NOT accept this.

So that's my dilemma - the disenfranchisement of people of color across the country is the most painful aspect of what was done to us on November 2nd and we must pursue it to its conclusion - but I'm worried....

...still roaming the streets. They think they are on the verge of returning to their heyday, purging their neighborhoods of liberals and minorities and immigrants. Any threat to that will certainly be met with rage and gnashing of teeth. Backlash? Frankly, what kind of backlash do you think can occur? You think after 30 years of progress, fighting and trying to move two steps forward for every step pushed back, people concerned with equality and democracy and moving foward, you think some we're not ready? The knuckledraggers have evaluated the situation. The only way they can move us backward, to the place they want us, is through reactionary, non-democratic means. They know people are being disenfranchised. They are COUNTING on it. Can't go back to the 3/5th rule all of a sudden. But you can do it thru crafty equations.

A little nudge here, a push there, a story planted over there, and you've got plausible deniability and a perfect opening for a 3 pt bump. Oh, and you should be worried. Historic times.

Let everybody see just how pathetic and rotten they are.

What a shining example to the world America is, to let a tainted election stand, one which was engineered through obstruction, suppression and intimidation of the minority vote.

When we lose our "moral authority" in the world, when the ugly hypocritical mask comes off, it's over. There will be no more telling other countries what to do with their elections, or how to conduct them, we will have no standing to judge.

And without the ability to interfere in the elections of other countries, America loses a tremendous amount of leverage. Look at the animosity between bush and Putin over the Ukraine. Putin says, "Who is the USA to talk about fair elections and exit poll results"?

Lots of reasons, both altruistic and selfish, for The Powers That Be to make sure this election proves to be based on democracy rather than plutocracy.

is what we have to embody. Fighting this thing is difficult. Some of the republicans are like pit bulls. They only know "what is good for me" is the only thing that matters and everyone else be damned. Not pretty. Perhaps that is why so many democrats are so quiet. They just don't want to have to fight. Their beings are peaceful and not very mean.

14. If people worried about backlash, Civil Rights Movement would have died.

Let us never hold back or be intimidated by Big Brother with the argument that we need to be careful and quiet in protesting the sodomy they are inflicting upon America, or "things could even get worse".
