In a development that came to light just this week, several extra Franklin County voting machines earmarked for Columbus’ inner-city polling places on Election Day never made it inside.

Officials can’t say exactly why, but they suggest the polls may have been closed or poll workers told those delivering the machines that they could get along with the ones they had.

The machines were among a group of 99 originally kept in reserve for emergencies. County Elections Director Matthew Damschroder said that the day before the election, he ordered that all 99 be sent to precincts where long lines were expected.

But 22 were left in the warehouse, and 17 of the 29 machines that officials tried to place on Election Day in inner-city precincts never were activated.

Damschroder said he learned the extent of the problem and other discrepancies this week — meaning officials have been giving the public wrong numbers on voting machines for the past 5½ weeks.

This was the final straw for me.

Had the election been fair, Kerry would have won.

It's disgusting the amount of corporate money that went to Republican candidates and how it was earmarked for legislation to screw average Americans.

Dissent is becoming illegal. It won't be long before it's a crime to ask questions like "Where's the body armor you promised? Where's the Humvee armor you promised?"

It's just a taste of how citizens in more repressive regimes live. It's just a taste of things to come.

I have no choice but to keep fighting, but I just don't see any light to the end of this tunnel.

....in this email exchange. And, I received confirmation from Common Cause Ohio that my request was forwarded to Mr Arnebeck. I do not know if what was recommended happened. I'll leave it to all of you to compare with these recent statements from Mr.Damschroder.

Note: way back on 13 Nov 2004 it was 68 machines in the shed that were not deployed in Franklin county.

And, just an aside -- some of us operate with both our 'head' & our 'heart' fully connected -- in more than just the rather necessary 'physiological systems' relationship ;-)

Please consider:

The '68 electronic voting machines remained in storage and were never used on Election Day.' -- SUBPOENA THOSE MACHINES and get access to the code on those machines and have experts check for 'pin', security level , any form of programmatic 'vote switch' code, etc. You should do this immediately and ensure no one can get access to those machines until they are checked.
