I'm from Illinois and I've met the guy (Durbin). He's pretty nice. But I'm not sure how long his neck is (for the chopping block).

He's gaining some clout, so he keep low. Too bad.

If push comes to shove, he might come though...

Edited on Tue Dec-14-04 08:42 AM by bunny planet
But he's not retiring until 2009. He retired already once before, only came back because Torriccelli got tossed because of a scandal. Lautenberg's 82, he hates *. He might do it. We've all got to write him though. I've already done it, needs lots of people asking. He just might be our man.

I'm sure Conyers and the others have informed fellow Democrats...if they ain't onboard, they AIN'T onboard...

As as I'm concerned, just like in 2000 (and shown in Fahrenheit) the only people in government that actually seem to represent us are the Congressional Black and Hispanic Caucuses...they are the only ones to go all the way for the people...the rest (Biden, Feingold, etc.) just grandstand from time to time, but play politics most of the time.

Where was Biden, Feingold, etc. when a Senator was needed in 2000? Where was Kennedy?

Where was Gondor when the West Wall fell....

Sorry, got carried away in the rant! :)

on 11/4. I included the small amount of information indicative of fraud that was available at that time in the letter. I received a response from Senator Feingold that was significantly more tepid than any other response that I have received from him since he became our Senator. No need to ask me to reprint it here, as I threw it out right after reading it. In essence, it said that the senate isn't really involved in this sort of issue, and if I should have any personal information or experience with election fraud I should report it to the folks that deal with election fraud.

The response that I received from Tammy Baldwin seemed much mored interested and engaged.

16. These are the two letters I fired off to Biden and Carper
Edited on Mon Dec-13-04 09:19 PM by woodsprite
To Carper & Biden

As a Delaware citizen and a supporter of both you and Senator Biden, let me remind you of the oath that you took when you became Senator

"I do solemnly swear that I will support and defend the Constitution of
the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic..."

People who would cheat, defraud and disenfranchise Americans in an
election are domestic enemies. We need you to stand up and support Rep. Conyers in all the work that he is doing to bring the fraud and criminal activity in Ohio to a stop. We need a true Judiciary Hearing on this matter. The checks and balances that were originally planned in our Constitution no longer exist and the Democratic party is a lame duck in either the House OR the Senate. Together, the Democratic Party can show strength!

The electorate for Ohio CANNOT be certified since evidence and voter
records have been destroyed and all votes were not counted. We need
someone strong in the Senate to stand up for the American people. I would like you to be that person. Though Election Integrity should be a bi-partisan issue, there is no hope for that in this year or next and
everyone must to do what is required of us as individuals to ensure that THIS election is accurate, fair, and valid. Only the true winner of the election should be running our country and residing in the White House.

I'm sending a similar letter now to Rep. Mike Castle.

If John McCain stepped up to the plate. I used to think that he had real integrity but after seeing him whore himself out for Bush during the election, I have lost respect for him. I KNOW he hates Bush and is great friends with Kerry.

He has taken up this mumbo-jumbo about regulating sports for steroid use lately... talk about recent media whore jump on the bandwagon social issue of the day behavior. I held Sen. McCain in higher regard before all that. And there is also all this MSM rumor about a 2008 run; go figure.

All the same, he is a personal friend of Sen. Kerry, and hopefully would step up to the plate if enough Dems and enough of the country was aware that Kerry/Edwards carried Ohio. We'll just have to see what comes about in the next few weeks.

I have a feeling we are going to see at least one Senator come forward based on what we are currently seeing out of Ohio. :) The question is, at that point, will the challenge be successful, or will it just help us mark Mr. Bush in the history books?

Warmly,

George

I'm not so sure he hates Bush, I do know he respects him.

McCain is about as independent as you get in the Senate. If he didn't respect Bush, he would not have campaigned for him.

As for his love affair with Kerry.

McCain and Kerry at one time were serious enemies because of the differences they held over the Vietnam war.

My understanding is they have moved past that and now are friends.

political futures mean too much to them to join together in a national effort to end the criminal activity that has engulfed the voting process in America. The worldwide hatred of my once great country is growing by leaps and bounds each day. The embarassment of true American patriots will not be curtailed until those we have elected toss aside their fears of rocking the boat and do what they were elected to do- Protect the rights of ALL Americans.

48. This is what some of us in Oregon are doing about this

http://www.dpo.org/news/documents/1780.html
The Oregon Democrats hand-delived this resolution to our senators and reps (except Smith who wouldn't meet with them):

This is an excerpt from the resolution (see link for entire text):

U.S. Representatives Earl Blumenauer, Peter DeFazio, Darlene Hooley, David Wu, and Greg Walden we encourage and support

-a public and aggressive participation, alongside Congressional Representatives Conyers, Nadler, Wexler, Holt, Scott, Watt, Baldwin, Miller, Slaughter, Filner, Lee, Meeks, Olver, and Schakowsky in calling upon the Government Accountability Office (GAO), to perform a timely and thorough investigation into all voting irregularities nationwide
-a public pledge to challenge the electors from any and all states where irregularities and possible fraud have surfaced

Senators Ron Wyden and Gordon Smith, we encourage and support

-a public pledge to step forward and concur with any such challenges to state electors brought by members of the U.S. House of Representatives

Americans need assurances that their elected representatives are working with steadfast determination to ensure every vote is counted.

Your efforts to this end may be difficult and will likely be challenged by those currently satisfied with the perceived election results. However, for those who believe that America's promise of "liberty and justice" and a counted vote "for all" MUST be honored, your efforts will be recognized as nothing less than heroic.

Respectfully,
Democratic Party of Oregon

AND

We are writing letters and making phone calls asking our senators to support "any challenge of the 2004 election brought by members of the House of Representatives."

AND

This is a petition we are going to circulate and ask people who are involved with this issue to get five people to sign (or more if they want, but five is manageable even for busy people) and then send to our senators:

Dear Senator ________:

We, the undersigned citizens of Oregon, agree that a repeat of the betrayal of the 2000 election where no senator stood up to support the members of the House of Representatives in challenging the election outcome would be unacceptable.

We urge you to openly voice your support of any challenge of the 2004 election brought by members of the House of Representatives.

Respectfully,

We feel that we need to bombard them with the message that a repeat of 2000 is not acceptable! Politely.
