and it's usually clothes i buy from walmart. thrift stores are good too but have a horrible time finding 'modern' clothes that FIT.

anyone know about ALDI'S food store? that's where i buy my groceries.

The average Walmart prices are lower when they first open. They use other stores' profits to subsidize their losing costs when they open so they can drive others out of business, and get loyal customers. But surveys have shown that once they are in business comfortably in an area, their prices are actually higher than their competition.

Consider a membership to Costco or Priceclub. They are big Dem supporters, and for certain items buying in bulk is really the way to go.

9. I've been buying Blue.

I thought it would be difficult with Christmas but I've done extremely well. I bought about 50% of my gifts at Barnes and Noble (books, CDs and DVDs) which is a 98% blue company compared to Amazon (69% red). I bought some colognes and aftershaves by blue companies like Liz Claiborne, Aramis, and Calvin Klein. A lot of the CDs I bought were by artists, like Springsteen, REM, Pearl Jam and Jackson Browne, who supported us this year.

Two people asked for Home Depot gift certificates and I asked them if Lowes would be ok instead and they said it would so that's $100.00 that a red company lost out to a blue. So far, I've only bought two small gifts from a red company.

13. Yep. I spent half my holiday budget at Barnes & Noble.

It has two benefits:

It financially supports a Blue company
It gets the people I love into a progressive atmosphere and READING!

listed on the red column, but didn't know about Lowe's. Those are my two choices where I live.

I should clarify that Lowes is only slighly "blue" in that they gave more to Dems, but only by about 3 percentage points. They are still better than Home Depot, though.

28. Not officially, just my research.

I'm trying to find the link to the data but I remember that it was something like 48% red to 51% blue. There was a post about them in the Economic Activists Group forum that said they don't give very much money to any political party. Considering the fact that Home Depot gives a lot of money and mostly to Repubs, I think Lowe's is a viable alternative when you have to use one of the big chain hardware stores. Not perfect, but better.

they list Fox, Fox Sports, Fox News, and Fox Television as
