Is this a democracy or not?

All comes down to this, the not so basic argument about the American political system after the 2004 fraud.

In 2000, millions of votes WERE NOT COUNTED. Some said because they would not change the outcome, meaning, some were casted in states that were not Florida.

But then again, votes in Florida were not counted!

Right now, votes in several states are not going to be counted. What is it whit this "democracy" where one party doesn't like the idea of having every vote counted?

What is it with the opposition party accepting this regime's policy, concerning the right to vote?

Or more access to vote in white areas but not in black areas?

Or locking up voting machines in buildings when they are needed on the field?

Or changing the outcome of the Ukraine election basid exit polls discrepancies but looking the other way when they take place here, in the US?

Do you call this system a "democratic" one?

Clearly, is not.

You have to come to terms with your own reality. For many years now, you have not lived in democracy.

The sooner you start dealing with reality the better. Bush's regime is ready for the kill.

Is up to you to change that new reality. The rest of the world can always help but the US is becoming a rogue state, at light speed, unfortunately, and a majority of Americans is too busy watching TV to notice...

The Constitution that Franklin helped write does not even assume there will even be an election for president.

The legislatures choose electors.

The electors vote for two men who they think might be good presidents.

The House of Representatives chooses (voting one vote per state) one man from among the top five electoral vote finishers as the new president.

Nothing about the people or popular votes or anything like that.

South Carolina didn't have a vote for president until 1868, and that one probably wasn't a very fair one since supposedly it voted for Ulysses Grant.

I agree. It was an illusion. The majority of the people of this country do not have their choice elected in the White House in 2000 or in 2004. It's not who votes, it's who counts the votes.

The semblance of Democracy is being gradually stripped away, most likely as a "cost cutting" measure. The facade at least held potential for the flowering of the real thing. It will be missed.

No, we traded in democracy for SUVs. We're the biggest and the best, and we do what we want and blah blah blah. We can drive cars that destroy our planet. We can send our troops to fight bullshit wars anywhere we want, anytime we want. We can tell anyone that's not rich, white and religious to piss off, because they're not wanted in our country. We have morals. We don't need minority citizens to vote. We don't need to tell our soldiers the truth. We just stick our little American flag on the bumper of the Licoln Jumbonavigator, next to our "W" sticker and we're on our way. We have morals, we don't need democracy. That's some crappy little cult thing those satan-worshiping pot-heads thought up in California or something.

As long as those nasty gays can't get hitched and we can still buy our armor piercing bullets for the M-16, this will be the "Land of the free, and home of the brave".
