I try to keep this from happening by not varying my user name, but I picked up a cyber-stalker last year. I won my cyber-stalker by trying something I'd never tried before: revenge. It didn't work very well for me. :( It was more guilt than it was worth, plus I ended up being followed around the Internet by a sociopath who hated me.

(Note: I've found the "turn the other cheek" thing doesn't work for me, either. Anyone find an alternative path that works? I think forgiveness is overrated, but at the same time don't want to be consumed by hatred. Thanks.)

97. I first heard about Free Republic through a liberal website, can't

remember which one, I think there was an article with a link to them. The link was to a thread at FR where they were discussing people who had signed a democratically leaning petition on line. The Freepers were discussing people who had signed the petition (it was an anti-Bush, anti-Iraq war petition action) and talking about the ones that were in the military.

They were planning on following up on them and emailing them, harassing them for being traitors etc., a disgrace to the service They said some pretty ugly things. My point is that they seemed to have a way of getting the emails of the people who had signed the petition, even though some or most of them were private and didn't appear on the list with the names and cities. I've signed lots of petitions, especially in the last couple of months, and I always am careful to make my email private. I also have donated lots of money to progressive causes in the past 6 months. Can they somehow hack or figure out the emails from those sites. I thought the https sites were relatively secure.

This is creepy, but it also pretty cool that the knuckle dragging, mouth breathers are getting their panties all in a twist. We must be getting pretty close to pay dirt.

There is a way to reverse look up an email if they have a name or an address, that's something they could have gotten from a petition you signed.

You are brave to have answered their letter, but don't get slimed again. They are not worth it.

I had around I think a couple thousand freepers from FreeRepublic.com that were all upset about a impartial point I made about liberalism and politics and from what I read about the freepers on the liberal blogs I was thinking and expecting all kinds of flames and hate mail, and of course I guess I had lurkers but some actually became regular visitors in fact it was very democratic and on average half my visitors and members were liberals and the other half Freepers.

Sure they were critical of some of my liberal philosophies but none of them got personal in their criticisms, so I could not even categorize them the Freepers that came over to my blog from Free Republic as trolls or flamers.

All of the freepers even those that became regulars were actually very democratic they participated in polls, they gave comments, and debated civilly. It was so opposite what those on some liberal sites said they were like.
