Call to action - who's willing to work with me on this?

This is a new post in reference to another post I started about having a general strike if no Senators contest the election. The consensus was that it was a good idea but not enough people to make it effective. So forget about the general strike, but I believe that we need to start talking to people at a grassroots level to educate them about the election fraud issue.

How do we reach out to people?

If we look at it as a simple marketing strategy it becomes easier.

For instance, one simple slogan that everybody uses. Can anybody come up with something clever? There are the orange ribbons, but how many people actually know what this means and isn't for the Ukraine? It should sound proactive and not reactionary. Something that is not a personal attack against the current administration. Something that appeals to peoples' sense of fairness. Something that even republicans would have to admit is an issue that concerns them as well.

Flyers should be made that talk about specific instances of voter disenfranchisement as well as possible criminal activity. This should also have a web address of a single source where people can go to find out what is happening on a day to day basis. There are tons of web pages and organizations out there, so keeping it to just one keeps it simple as well as unified. Obviously we don't have that in place, but is there one that someone can recommend? Can the folks who run the DU website start a link to this specific issue?

This flyer should also contain information about how to contact their representatives and it should be tailored to to the specific targeted district and who exactly represents that district. And since people are basically lazy, how about having preprinted postcards that all they have to do is sign it and throw it in the mailbox.

Something should be handed out after contact has been made such as a button, bumper sticker, or poster to hang in a window to show support and has athe abovnebtioned web site address.

And furthermore, ask these people if they agree that this is an important issue and if so would they be willing to spread the word to at least three other people they know.

Who is up to this challenge? I am a graphic designer and I state right now that I'm willing to design a flyer that I can send to you as a pdf that you can download and print out. I can also design a postcard and window flyer.

Are there people in this forum willing to talk to just at least three neighbors over the weekend? How about all New Year's Eve parties? While it may not seem like much, at least it's a start.

If you give me your ideas about slogans and what specific information we should address, I can have a flyer for you by this evening.

I looked into them before, even got a sample one mailed to me. The thing is, the set up costs are fairly high - around $1000 minimum for the set-up charge and the first run of bracelets, and that would only be for 500 bracelets. The cost per goes down with higher quantities, but you have to pay for everything up front.

That's proactive, and should appeal to everyone's sense of fairness. It also has the advantage of being a quote from Ronald Reagan ("Trust but Verify").

For your flyer, how about pulling out a few egregious events from Ohio and Florida--things documented--and using a "FACT:_______" construction.

Or your theme for the flyer could be "The Perfect Crime?" (a la Mark Crispin Miller's 11/16 essay http://www.inthesetimes.com/site/main/article/1692/ )

Or maybe a theme taking off on Sinclair Lewis' "It Can't Happen Here" but add a question mark, or a subtitle like "(Can It?)"

As part of the "educated elite" we tend to over think and be too obtuse.

We should take a page from the GOP playbook and use BUSH CHEATED. It should be our Sore Loserman because we need to KISS. In addition BUSH CHEATED covers every type of election fraud, suppression, tabulation fraud, ballot box stuffing, etc.

We need to reach lots of people and a large portion of those people are geographically easy to communicate with. In my pre election GOTV street canvassing activities I had no problem figuring out where the likely dem voters were (urban and campus areas, integrated or minority neighborhoods) and I was able to use guerrilla marketing, ie. posting bills to reach people even when I was not there. I use 3M Super 77 spray adhesive from Staples to glue them to metal utility poles, bus stop shelters, new paper racks, and phone booths in urban/campus areas where our base congregates.

You do not have the time or the manpower to disseminate black armbands or orange bracelets. A lot of people will have no idea what the black armbands, or the orange bracelets mean and will not care to ask.

Obviously when I glue BUSH CHEATED bystanders see me as I do it in broad daylight. The bystanders were not the educated elites we liberals who frequent lefty web sites interact with in our daily lives. The OPs (ordinary people) who witnessed my vandalism were very appreciative of this information. They immediately understood what had happened and needed no 1000 word polemic to be convinced. They intuitively knew they/we had been robbed. This is the vast majority of peopel who voted for Kerry. Look at the income stats on Kerry voters vs. Bush. They are the working poor, they are the minorities whose votes were suppressed who we need to be the face of the racist GOP suppression tactics. If 20% believe the election was stolen then only a fraction of kerry's supporters on Nov. 2 have been informed.

KitKat, this is a great idea--I agree we need to work hard to spread the message via grassroots and guerilla tactics, since the MSM aren't carrying any water on this.

The tricky part is creating a message that will have lasting impact and relevance as this situation continues to evolve and more information becomes available. It also has to be extremely clear and self-explanatory in as few words as possible, i.e. the KISS principle. Some of the ones others have suggested in this thread ("What are they hiding?" and "Trust but verify") are short but will not make sense to people who have little or no awareness of the election fraud situation. "One nation under fraud" is clever, but again, I worry that it might be too obscure for those who haven't been following this as we have. I think that "Bush Cheated" is the best suggestion so far, though this kind of aggressive, pull-no-punches allegation may be so strong that it risks pushing people away immediately before we engage their interest and curiosity.

I think that we need to have a message that opens people's eyes to how our democracy is being systematically subverted and dismantled.

I'll think about it a bit and throw out some ideas shortly.

we need to distribute some sort of flyer. I remember back in the 70's there were these tiny Christian pamphlets. They were EVERYWHERE. About palm size. We need something like this. And we need to put them EVERYWHERE. Buses, restaurants, theaters, supermarkets, EVERYWHERE. I recently saw an interview with Jackson. The issue being voting machines. The interviewer said something to the effect of.. Blackwell said he placed them based on past years. Jackson responded with the registration was up. This is NOT GOOD enough. He needs to let people know the number of machines was reduced. We cannot keep on with our talking points. Things that make sense to us will not make sense to others, who do not know all the info. Now at 10:00 the number of total voters has gone up to 100. 6 more voters.

Lets assume that Joe has now taken the lead. We will say he now has 55% and Jim has gone down to 45%. As 55% of 100 is 55 and 45 % is 45 we know Joe and Jim's total voters are Joe 55 and Jim 45.

Now this is up from 7:00's total votes of 37.6 total votes Joe had earlier by 17.4 votes.

Now we have established that there were only 6 voters between 7:00 and 10:00. How can a vote total go up more points then there are voters??

Unless as we can see Jims votes total illogically went down. He has 56.4 total votes at 7:00 but only has 45 at 10:00.

I guess impossible is a strong word. Impossible no. Honest and legitimate? look for yourself.

FACT: Nationwide, 80% of our votes are counted by 2 private companies, Diebold and ES&S. These two companies are connected by two brothers, Bob Urosevich (president of Diebold Election Systems) and Todd Urosevich (vice president of ES&S). (1)

FACT: The owner of Diebold Warren O’Dell is on record in 2003 pledging his commitment “to helping Ohio deliver its electoral votes to the president".(2)  

FACT: Five of the managers, software developers and designers who work for Diebold are convicted felons, and Jeff Dean, one of the Senior Vice Presidents, has been convicted of embezzlement. (3)

FACT: In the last few years, Diebold's leadership has donated over a quarter million dollars to political causes, and 100% went to the Republican Party.(4) 

FACT: ES&S also has strong financial ties to the Republican party. Nebraska senator Chuck Hagel (Rep) was CEO of of ES&S up to 2 weeks before he won his seat in a "surprising" upset!(5) 

FACT: Diebold's Vote Tabulation Software (GEMS) is so poorly designed that any election official, poll worker, company insider, or Hacker activist can easily add, modify, or delete hundreds of thousands of votes using Microsoft Office without leaving a trace.(6)

Fact: Internal memos from Diebold reveal they know about people changing vote databases using this back door, and their own internal memos reveal that they know about elections officials in at least one county that are "Famous for it". (King County, WA).(7) 

FACT: Diebold claims it’s too difficult to make their voting machines "reliably" produce a paper trail, in spite of the fact that this company makes ATM machines and EVERY ATM produces at least 2 pieces of paper with every transaction(12) Without paper trails a legitimate recount is virtually impossible.

FACT: Republican Congressman Peter King was caught on video with President Bush before the results came in on election day, saying "It's over!  The election's over - we won.  It's all over but the counting, and we'll take care of the counting."(8)

the handout was two column. On one side it would have the examples of the fraud/"irregularities" that happened in the Ukraine, and on the other side a similar example with the name of the county in the US where the complaint has been documented. At the bottom it could have details about the support/$ spent by the US to assure a fair election in the Ukraine, and the roadblocks put up by the different agencies here.
The reason I suggest this is, I was home one day from work and caught a committee meeting on CSpan about the Ukraine situation.It occurred to me that the names could be changed for the places, and the story would apply to us. It really had a big impact on me, even though I've been following this story very closely. A headline could be something like "What's the Difference?". Somewhere on the sheet, I'd love to see What are they hiding? I just love that phrase. I ordered 100 bumper stickers today with that on it, and I can't wait to get them and pass them out. I had suggested a while ago that the political action groups like Moveon and other 527's should put together some adcampaigns, along the lines of "Do you know if your vote counted?" But it's almost too late at this point since there is no MSM coverage at all. However if that changes on Jan6th(let's hope), and there will be coverage, I hope that some of these groups have their ducks in "attack" row!
