Though I don't believe Kerry will "win" - I think Conyers action is vital

First, I do not have hope that the amount of fraud will change the election outcome.

That said, I think it is vitally important for the action to work, requiring a Senator to stand with Conyers. Why would I ask a Senator to risk his or her reputation on this if I do not believe it will have an effect in the end?

It grows more clear each week that multiple things were stinky in Ohio. A full airing of the extent of those problems is important for the country. Folks have to a) start seeing that things are NOT as they seem on the surface (the "how could this happen" effect); and b) be concerned enough to put pressure out there to ensure more secure and verifiable elections in the future. That is very vital.

The secondary - and political strategy angle is important as well. With a big public airing - even with the rw echochamber ridiculing it - more and more folks will start hearing about the range of problems... and suddenly the questions of Florida 2000 return - and pushed into the public discussion and psyche will be the joint media investigations that concluded that Gore, indeed, won Florida. Boom. A weak bush becomes viewed by a growing number of people as illegitimate. And suddenly even more politically weak.

Because bush is purging his closest cabinet members of any last semblance of "reality based" (re: policy) thinkers - it is inevitable that they will push even more extreme policies than they have todate. The kind that they think that they can market test and repackage in ways that Americans will follow. But they are too arrogant and a lot of Americans weren't too thrilled with some of the major actions of the last four years. Congressional GOP members will be stuck time and time again (starting with Social Security) with a choice.... do we go with BUsh on unpopular legislation and risk reelection... (more departures)... on the other side the harder they push, esp if more widely viewed as illegitimate... if Hammer wins great party obedience (vote for bush)... are they risking huge backlash against the entire party... that is, if the actions are seen as the whole GOP and not just Bush - then they can ALL get hit with big backlash... one house of congress or two to lose?

Bushco and the current GOP are sitting on a house of cards. What gets aired - esp if given the news coverage this would get - could start to throw some water on those lowest base cards - and when they (public perception) get too saturated and wet - they just fold in...

Free Press has a huge amount of documentation of systematic suppression of minorities, malfeasance, sloppy process, dirty tricks, and widespread fraud that is well documented with lots of affidavits from voters, officials, and experts. And there is lots of documentation of widespread suppression of minorities and vote machine fraud in Florida and New Mexico.

The Greens are likely to win the court case in New Mexico, since the fraud is clearly documented and state law seems to be clearly on their side in the recount contest. This could add much to momentum of investigations in Ohio and Florida, which clearly had widespread fraud as well as suppression. If the electors are contested there will be much more coverage of the really rotten processes in at least 3 states and more more public awareness. This could start a momentum that would be hard to stop.
