I think Conyers is a great man and I do support him and his intelligence all the way. He knows much more than we do. So my vote is yes and I will stand behind Conyers.

..which I seriously doubt will occur (infact I've bet against it), I am thinking perhaps it would be Robert Bryd.

I really don't believe Senator Bryd gives much of a damn about what people think of him or about future political considerations. The guy speaks his mind for good or ill, does what he thinks is right, and has no problem railing against popular positions and conventional wisdom.

I don't know a lot about which Senators people are betting on, but if I had to pick one it would be Byrd. Saying that, I could be way, way off base.

Still though, I've never believed any Senator will contest because I believe the evidence of this voting fraud conspiracy is simply way too thin.

He has already said he will sit in for one term after standing in for the party in New Jersey.

He will retire for good from the Senate and would be a good candidate to help out here.

He's an imposing figure, well-spoken, deep-voiced, and not given to much silliness. In other words, senatorial and historic.

He has the guts and nothing to lose. If you remember he stood of the floor of the senate with a poster of a chicken hawk!
Additionally he already made his fortune before becoming a senator so the Repubs would not be able to go after him privately.

But I don't think it will happen until the very day. It is in their best interest to keep this very close to the vest. As soon as word is out that they will stand with Conyers, the right wing attack dogs will be out for them.

I mentioned on another thread that I keep getting this strong 'intuitive image' of Kerry walking through the doors of where they're meeting on Jan 6, and his jaw is so 'set'...he's SO determined. And as he comes through the door, there is such an 'energy' behind him. And while I can't see anyone behind him, I sense the 'energy' that follows him is the STRONG support he has for this. Whether he surprisingly shows up that day or not, or whether it's his STRONG support that day which I sense...I do believe my intuition is 'on mark' on this one.

about a lot of DUers. They are in for a major disappointment. It is highly unlikely that any Senator will refuse to certify based on the current status quo. It seems the majority of folks here actually believe there will be at least one Senator who will refuse to certify. Many DUers believe that Kerry will become President. This is so removed from reality. People hanging on to this kind of illusory hope are bound to painfully crash to earth when the 6th comes and goes, and when bush gets sworn in on the 20th.

After nothing significant happens on the 6th, the goalposts will just move to inaguration day. There will be some screaming, yelling and disappointment - but then the fantasy will be something new. Perhaps a new delusion claiming that Kerry had it all planned to reveal the fraud when he returned from overseas and that Conyers held back for reasons never fully explained. Another might be that the evidence, I mean the conclusive evidence, will all come out soon and then Bush will impeached (and that this was all by design as part of Kerry's secret plan).

Some people have just created an alternate universe for themselves, and they will have to find their way back to reality on their own. There are some classic posters here who are wrong in virtually every prediction, who clearly have absolutely no grasp of where public opinion in America is or even how US elections function, yet they continue pouring out fantastically deluded posts. It's as if some people simply never, ever stop to consider how utterly, consistantly wrong they've been.

The woman to whom I spoke took my name, address, and phone number and said she would pass it on to the senator. She said that it would mean more if they heard more from West Virginians. I told her I think a lot of us in West Virginia have not heard about what's going on because of lack of MSM coverage. She did say they had heard from a number of people outside of WV.

She did not know if he would in fact contest.
