one party rule--is what we've got here now. It's not revolutionary but it's certainly institutional.

During the Gulf of Tonkin Resolution in 1964 there are only two names remembered....Sen Wayne Morse's who voted against it, along with one other Senator, Ernest Gruening of Alaska. All the other toadies deserve forgetting anyway that day. Wayne and Ernest showed up for work, the others could have phoned it in, if you get my drift.

This is the only thing the Democrats can do to fire things up plus they owe it to black voters, our most loyal base.

And I mean the Democrats owe it to black voters big time. Think about what happened in Florida and Ohio and who the main target was.

This is a VOTING RIGHTS ISSUE and A CIVIL RIGHTS issue

When one of them does this, there will be a shit-storm of acrimonious attacks by the fascists. It's up to us to hang in there and fight back.

11. Why not run in the Democratic primary instead?

You could still call attention to the issue. You'd have an opportunity to highlight voting election reform amongst Democratic grass roots in your district or state. Should you win you'd get the backing of the entire party to run your general election campaign, and have at least a shot to beat the GOP candidate and actually serve in office. If you lose you'd have still drawn attention to the issue you care most about, and yet not split off progressives and others from the Democratic candidate in the general election. Reform from within is almost always best. If it is something you deeply care about, get involved as a Democrat and work to change the party to better represent your views.

Just my opinion anyway.

..the local area Dem party obviously doesn't have candidates that believe in the issues that you care about most right? Or they are not taking on the election issues as aggressively as you believe necessary?

What I am saying is, if the local area Dem's are not representing the grass roots why shouldn't you be the one to stand up and do it?

If no one in your district really cares about the issue, your not going to get any media attention running as an independent anyway. Realize how many citizens try to do that, and not only do they rarely succeed - they rarely even get noticed.

But if you run as a Democrat from within the party, you have far more opportunity to have a platform to air your views and discuss the issues you care most about. If there really is a serious interest in the issue amongst average Democrats in your district or State, you might wind up being the only one speaking to their views right? You can run as something of an insurgent Democrat taking on the tired establishment - a candidate that will really shake things up.

It's just a thought. As I said, I think more people should get involved, and I wish you the best!
