Paul was the biggest thorn in the side of the B*sh regime. He stood in their way and we all know what happened to him. This may be what is scaring the others off. That and the Anthrax mailer is still out there.
Proof or no proof, just stand up. Suicide or no suicide, just stand up. There are some things that are more important than a career.

I honestly don't know what he'd have done in this case. Like all the Senators it boils down to what they believe.

If they believe the people have spoken in a legitimate manner, they won't interfere. If they believe that fraud was pervasive, they will and should contest.

Conyers framed the issue well ... contest the election to lend to debate and discussion, but it's still a lot to grapple with.
